Step 13 The Cemetery

This scene was a pivotal one in the story as this is where Ben DAge ends his journey with his vision of all the Faceless that had lost their life, including his Giselle in the pogrom that has taken place in his homeland. The original idea was to use the green box technique and clear the green colour using chroma key filters, but then it was decided that all the film had used the backdrop technique throughout and there would be a lack of unity and inconsistency if green box techniques were used. This decision affected the scene completely as it had been filmed on green cardboard which sometimes appears in the edited scenes. However it lent the scene a more surreal  touch and allowed the use of the kaleidoscope again, keeping film technique to the two strict motifs of animation against a backdrop and the kaleidoscope.
