A New Dimension

Why make a video for a song? Why make anything without a purpose anyway?

From a musician's point of view, it's the way to get the song across on a visual medium. Let us use film as a visual vehicle for our music. It is like asking a sales person to find some nice wrapping paper for your gift. No director would like to be compared to a sales person. Film is an art. Basically a video clip is the fusion of two art forms - the audio and the visual where both enhance and contribute to the final work.

The specific tune chosen for this video, like any other tune demands and imposes itself on the film. It is  a rockish type of tune, with raw guitars, aggressive and uptempo, with a little soft surreal release just before the end.

The lyrics are about a love gone on the rocks, where the singer complains about how his ex has shattered his dreams and life, his anger and rage like a trapped animal and how revenge awakes. Typical love story material.

The director's role is to add a new dimension to the tune. His choice is either to reflect the storyline of the lyrics in his film or to completely ignore it. However the best line, in my opinion is to boost the song by giving it a different twist, a different perspective - a New Dimension.

Personally both in Music and Film I try to move on from the personal to the Global implications, consequences.

Personally I like to make my own statements in a No Comment style, that is to let the pictures say and be what the audience wants them to say or be. In other words I try to keep the film open to interpretation, open to other possible dimensions.
